Coventry City’s number 1 has been pinpointed as the One to Watch ahead of QPR’s trip to the Ricoh Arena.

Name: Keiren Westwood

Date of Birth: 23/10/84

Former Clubs: Manchester City, Oldham Athletic, Carlisle United

Appearances: 139

Coventry City goalkeeper, Keiren Westwood, has once again been in scintillating form this season and has been an instrumental figure in Coventry City`s impressive first half to the 2010/2011 campaign. QPR will certainly have to have their shooting boots on as they look to score past one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

Westwood initially started his footballing career at Manchester City. Unfortunately he never played a first team game, and he was eventually released as he was an understudy to David James and Nicky Weaver; he went on to join Carlisle in 2004.

The shot stopper played mainly cup games at the beginning of his career, and in 2005/2006 season it looked likely he would be the number 2 to new signing Anthony Williams. However, he finally got his first team chance and grabbed the opportunity with both hands, soon cementing his place as the number 1.

At the end of the 2007/2008 season in League 1, Westwood was named in the PFA Team of the Year and also won the club’s entire Player of the Season awards.

On 18 June 2008, Westwood signed a three-year contract with Championship club Coventry City for an undisclosed fee. Westwood was named in the Championship PFA Team of the Year for 2009 after many excellent displays for Coventry City in his debut season at the club.

The story was the same in 2009/10 when a series of impressive performances saw Westwood handed the Player’s Player and Player of the Year accolades.

Regarded as one of the best goalkeepers outside the top division, Westwood has already thwarted many QPR attempts to defeat Coventry at the Ricoh Arena and the Rs strikers will have to be clinical in their finishing.
