Following an injury to Kris Commons, Vital QPR looks at Jake Livermore as the One to Watch.
Name: Jake Livermore
Date of Birth: 14-11-1989 (Enfield)
Former Clubs: Tottenham Hotspur, Milton Keynes Dons (L), Crewe Alexandra (L)
Appearances (Goals): 15 (1)
Young midfielder Jake Livermore has come up through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and has not confined his abilities to merely football.
The youngster has displayed his stamina by becoming a county champion in the 1500m, and a cross country champion in the south-east in 2000.
He rose up the ranks at Tottenham to join the academy in 2006-07 after impressing in the under 18s as a schoolboy, scoring nine goals in 39 appearances.
After 13 appearances for the reserves Livermore was rewarded with his Spurs debut in a pre-season friendly against Stevenage Borough at Broadhall Way.
In February 2008, Livermore joined League Two front-runners Milton Keynes Dons on a month’s loan. In that period the Dons won every game but one to help cement their place at the top.
Milton Keynes went on to achieve promotion, with Livermore loaned out to fellow League One side Crewe Alexandra prior to the start of the 2008-09 season.
Unfortunately for him and Alex he fractured his fibula in a pre-season friendly with Wrexham, and would have to sit out a sustained period on the sidelines.
Jake missed the entire season with the injury, but Spurs had the faith to offer him a new two-year deal at White Hart Lane prior to the start of the campaign.
He scored his first goal in Spurs colours against Barcelona in the Wembley Cup and was subsequently loaned out to Derby County for an initial month.
Jake helped endear himself to the Rams faithful by scoring in the A52 derby, as Derby fell just short of nearest rivals Nottingham Forest.
He has made ten appearances for Derby so far this season and has displayed his usefulness from midfield as an attacking player.
His role in today’s game will be that more important given the circumstances of the hosts’ growing injury list.
