One to watch – Danny Graham

With Cleverly injured and Helgguson ineligible, Hornets striker Danny Graham is the One to Watch for their visit to Loftus Road.

Danny started his career in blue and white hoops playing for Chester-le-Street Town. His performance in hoops caught the eye of Middlesbrough, who gave him his first professional contract in the summer of 2003. His first year with the Smoggies was a prolific one for the young striker but was limited to the Under 19’s. The striker was loaned out to Darlington to make his professional debut, scoring 2 goals in 9 appearances. his loan spell helped him work his way into Gareth Southgate’s good book getting 15 appearances of the bench and his full debut in a UEFA cup game.

With the need for more first team experience, Graham was loaned out to Derby County for the start of the 05-06 season. Being unable to score in 14 appearances with Derby, he moved to Leeds United for the remainder of the season. After a goalless season, Danny made his last appearance at the Teesside as a substitute and was subsequently loaned to Blackpool. Although he scored a goal in his only start as a Blackpool player, he was unable to earn himself a contract with the team.

In January 07, Danny played was loaned to Carlisle United. His made just 11 appearances but scored 7 goals to win over the Carlisle fans. After his successful loan spell, he signed for Carlisle in the summer of 2007 as a free agent. Graham had two good seasons with the League one side, scoring 15 goals in each season helping the team at both ends of the table. He contributed towards Carlisle make a playoff place and fight off the threat of relegation.

As a free agent, Danny was snapped up by Watford at the start of the season. The striker has quickly become an integral part of the Hornets front line alongside QPR loanee Heidar Helguson. The Watford number 10 has scored 10 goals this season; the last of which was a vital goal that helped Watford secure a point against West Bromwich. Graham’s ability to score important goals is the reason he is one the QPR defence must watch.
