Blackpool record capture Charlie Adam is the One to Watch ahead of this weekend’s fixture with QPR.

Name: Charlie Adam

Date of Birth: 10-12-1985 (Dundee, Scotland)

Former Clubs: Glasgow Rangers, Ross County (L), St Mirren (L), Blackpool (L)

Appearances (Goals): 144 (34)

Midfielder Charlie Adam has made quite an impression on the Championship scene since dropping down from Scotland to join Blackpool.

Starting out life at Glasgow Rangers, the attack-minded player made his debut in the 3-2 win away at Dunfermline, playing the full 90 minutes at East End Park.

Adam also featured the following season as a substitute in the thumping win over Livingston (4-0) – but was subsequently loaned out to Scottish First Division side Ross County.

It wasn’t long before he bagged his first senior goal away at Raith Rovers, and his form helped County to the Challenge Cup Final where they were narrowly edged out by Falkirk.

He returned to Rangers for the start of the new season, and once again featured in a home thumping over Livingston (3-0) as the Ibrox side got off to a positive start.

Loaned out to St Mirren of the First Division, he found his goalscoring feet bagging nine goals, including a brace at home to Premier League Motherwell in the Scottish FA Cup.

Returning to Ibrox, Adam found himself in the first team set-up under Paul Le Guen, bagging Uefa Cup goals against Livorno and Maccabi Haifa.

14 goals ensued for Adam in total in a successful season for himself, if not his club. Rangers finished second to bitter rivals Glasgow Celtic, against whom the midfielder scored in an Old Firm clash.

The season culminated with Adam being called up for Scotland, and he replaced Shaun Maloney in the 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands.

His tally wasn’t as impressive the following season, hitting the back of the net four times while also featuring twice against Barcelona in the Uefa Champions League.

It was quickly becoming apparent that in the 2008-09 season that his days under Walter Smith were numbered, particularly confusing that just a year earlier he had penned a new five-year deal.

He was loaned to Blackpool in February 2009 and was sent off on his debut in the home defeat to Doncaster Rovers.

He bounced back however with a goal against relegated Norwich City and also against local rivals Preston North End in a surprise win at Deepdale.

Pool comfortably avoided relegation in 16th place and eventually named their successor to the outgoing Simon Grayson – former QPR manager Ian Holloway.

Adam played in the opening day draw at Loftus Road following a club-record £500,000 summer transfer move. He has since scored nine goals including recently against Cardiff City.

An attack-minded midfielder Adam continues to light up the Championship with a flurry of goals – he will be the man to watch this weekend.
