One to Watch – Brian Stock

Welsh international Brian Stock will be looking to help Doncaster Rovers steer clear of the relegation zone and take maximum points from top of the table QPR.

Having only taken one point from their five last trips to the Keepmoat, Rangers will have to be at their best to stop an inspirational Stock lead his Doncaster team.

Stock initially started his career at Bournemouth, making his league debut in January 2000 against Colchester. The influential midfielder never looked back from there on, and went on to make over 145 league appearances for The Cherries. Having scored 16 league goals for Bournemouth and spending 7 years at the club, he initially signed on loan at Preston before making the move permanent for a reported £125 000 fee.

Stock didn’t have the best of times at Preston, failing to make an impact on the team and after only managing one goal in eight appearances he moved on loan to Doncaster Rovers in 2006. After a successful loan spell he signed on a permanent deal for £150 000 in 2007, reuniting with former Bournemouth manager Sean O`Driscoll.

Since arriving at Doncaster, the 29 year old has become renowned for his influential play-making ability. His touch, vision, awareness and passing have seen him become an integral part of the club’s rise to the Championship. He captained the side in their League 1 Playoff final against Leeds at Wembley, and his impressive performances in the Championship have earned him recognition at International level.

Stock has featured in 30 of Doncaster`s league games this season, and will be determined to keep The Rovers there. With only one goal to his name this campaign, he will be looking to add to that tally and QPR must not get complacent if they want to wrap up promotion sooner rather than later.
