Plymouth Argyle winger Alan Judge has been outlined as the One to Watch ahead of this weekend’s fixture.

Name: Alan Judge

Date of Birth: 11-11-1988 (Dublin)

Former Clubs: Blackburn Rovers, Plymouth Argyle (L)

Appearances (Goals): 38 (7)

The Blackburn Rovers trainee Alan Judge turned professional at the age of 17 – where he featured numerous times for the Rovers’ second string.

In 2007-08 he scored seven goals for the Reserves in a successful season, and thus he was given a place in Blackburn’s Carling Cup side the following season.

Judge came from the bench to make his debut in the 4-1 home win over Grimsby Town. Carlos Villanueva, a brace from Matt Derbyshire and Brett Emerton saw the hosts through.

The winger took to the field in place of defender Ryan Nelsen after 67 minutes and impressed in his short time on the Ewood Road pitch.

His debut for Rovers came at the lesser known Croft Park as Rovers saw off plucky Blyth Spartans by the odd goal – Carlos Villanueva again on target.

The winger penned a loan deal with Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle in January 2009, making his debut from the bench in a 0-0 away draw with Ipswich Town.

Goals against the eventually promoted Burnley and in a thumping home win over Coventry City saw Judge’s reputation improve at Home Park.

In 17 appearances with the Pilgrims that season Judge had indeed proven himself a worthy advisory for Championship full-backs and Paul Sturrock opted to extend the deal into the coming season.

Prior to that however he featured in pre-season friendlies for Rovers against the likes of AS Roma – before securing his return to Home Park.

Thus far this season Alan Judge has been a regular in the Plymouth first team, making 23 appearances for the struggling Pilgrims.

A change of manager has seen his form improve somewhat with new boss and Argyle legend Paul Mariner seeing him score two goals in the thumping 4-1 home win over Reading.

Couple that with goals against Derby County, Scunthorpe United and Doncaster Rovers and Judge’s strikes have secured some much-needed points in the battle to avoid relegation.

A wide-man with bags of energy and enthusiasm, he could prove to be a persistent bother to Peter Ramage – or indeed whoever Paul Hart selects at right-back.
