Long-term target Ben Watson has finally penned a deal in W12, a deal which has been over a year in the making.

The midfielder penned a four-month loan deal with QPR today (Tuesday) on Transfer Deadline Day after falling out of favour with Roberto Martinez at Wigan Athletic.

He first caught QPR`s eye last season under the guidance of Iain Dowie, and was reportedly keen on a move to Loftus Road.

With a deal not coming to fruition he was forced to bide his time at Palace before a £2,000,000 deal saw his sign for Premier League Wigan Athletic.

Under Steve Bruce there was ample first team opportunity and a couple of goals, but with Roberto Martinez introducing midfielders such as Jordi Gomez to the DW Stadium, Watson was left in the cold.

Watson has made 179 career appearances scoring 20 goals since making his debut in 2003, and was voted Crystal Palace`s Young Player of the Year in 2007.

He has also picked up two England Under 21 caps while playing for the Eagles.

He will sport the number 15 at Loftus Road this season as he is forced to wait a week on Saturday for his first taste of action in a QPR shirt.

Welcome to QPR Ben – Best of luck
