Rangers have been fined £5,000 by the FA and Tommy Doherty’s season ends early.



The club was handed the fine by the Football Association at a disciplinary commission ealier today.



It relates to the incidents during the QPR Vs Stoke City fixture on the 3rd December 2005 at the Britannia Stadium- the game in which Simon Royce was attacked by Stoke’s thuggish supporters.



The club admitted a charge of failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and were also warned about their future conduct.



Meanwhile, in football matters, Tommy Doherty will not play again this season after seriously injuring his ankle.



The ‘Doc’ picked up his injury whilst on loan at League 1 side Yeovil Town, nine minutes into his debut against Chesterfield.



Doherty suffered a syndesomosis sprain of his right ankle and after an X-ray and MRI scan, club physio Prav Mathema confirmed the news to the official website.



‘Tommy is likely to miss the rest of the season. He’s suffered a severe sprain and we’ll continue to assess him.”
