It was being reported yesterday that following on from the various pieces of speculation linking summer arrival Angel Rangel with a departure away from the club when his short-term deal at Loftus Road came to an end in January, he was now closing in on an extended Queens Park Rangers contract.

Plenty of fans have been delighted with the way the 26-year-old former Swansea City fullback has taken to life at the club, both his performances on the pitch and also his attitude off the pitch when dealing with fans on social media and in person.

There have long been calls for him to be given an extended deal through until the summer at least and it appears the club are on the same wavelength.

West London Sport reported that his existing short-term deal does include an option for an extension and the player himself has now indicated that he wants to remain with us and use that option.

Therefore, it should only be a short matter of time before the specifics and the paperwork are sorted and he’s ours for the remainder of the year.

The suggestion is we may get confirmation some point today.
