Middlesbrough Enter Battle With Increased Bid For QPR Midfielder

|

With news of Blackburn Rovers’ reported £4million offer for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Luke Freeman, it has since been suggested that this was rejected out of hand.

Sky Sports have recently claimed that their sources understand that Riverside Stadium outfit Middlesbrough have now thrown their hat in the ring for the 26-year-old with an improved offer as the closure of the deadline day window nears.

It’s not yet suggested that Blackburn have come back into the mix, and Sheffield United’s claimed earlier interest is yet to be firmed up but Tony Pulis’ Boro do have money to burn this window, especially following the recent £18million transfer of Adama Traore to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Owner Tony Fernandes has, of course, stated on Twitter previously that Freeman is not for sale this window and that promise is being seriously tested as Boro can easily eek the price up to a level we may find hard to object to given our financial position.

Sky don’t posit what their ‘improvement’ on the bid is so we’ll have to see what happens before 5pm now and whether or not anybody else comes in to complicate things.
