McClaren: QPR Should Expect A Different Challenge This Weekend

|

Manager Steve McClaren takes his Queens Park Rangers first team to Griffin Park this Saturday to face off against rejuvenated Brentford.

In the opening leg earlier in the season at Loftus Road, QPR battled to a 3-2 victory over the Bees, but having now got his feet under the table, Thomas Frank has seen significant improvement in their play and they are unbeaten in eight games on home soil, so McClaren knows this will be a tough one.

QPR are, of course, looking to continue our own uplift in form in recent times following the battling victory over high flying Leeds United in our midweek Championship clash, and having got back to winning ways and kept the clean sheet, we will obviously be looking to keep that going and at least remain unbeaten this weekend given our prior run of seven straight defeats.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media ahead of the game, the former England gaffer explained.

“I think they are a completely different team now from when we beat them earlier in the season. They had a new manager but I thought it was a nice open game and we managed to be on top. It was a great win but that’s history and we have to continue it. They are a different team playing a different formation – 3-4-3 – they aren’t just winning at home, they are beating Blackburn by five and Hull by five and Villa, that we went to watch, they could easily have won three or four.”

He added.

“I’ve been to Brentford before. It’s a tight stadium a bit like ours and they will come out of the traps fast in the first 20 minutes. They are a very, very good team at home and QPR fans will probably know more than me what they are like. We have to go there tomorrow and be as strong as we were on Tuesday night.”

A repeat of Tuesday evening should certainly see us take something from the game.
