McClaren Opens QPR Pre-Season With A Draw Against Charlton

|

Steve McClaren saw his Queens Park Rangers side open their pre-season campaign with a 3-3 draw with Charlton Athletic at our Harlington training ground.

McClaren took the opportunity to play two different sides in each half as he looked to get a good 45 minutes of action into a number of players and with new signing Toni Leistner making his debut, Ebere Eze, Conor Washington and Alex Baptiste all saw themselves make the score sheet.

QPR certainly didn’t have it all their own way though against our League One opposition as they took the lead three times across the game as we battled back, but I guess at this stage of proceedings McClaren would’ve been happy to see the fightback and not overly focus on conceding three times whilst fitness and sharpness remains the priority.

Onto our second behind doors friendly of the summer as we face Barnet next Tuesday before fans have their first real opportunity to see the players properly this summer with Staines Town up on Friday.

QPR first half:

Lumley, Furlong, Leistner, Phillips, Hamalainen, Scowen, Chair, Eze, Wheeler, Smith, Osayi-Samuel.

Goals – Eze (39).

QPR second half:

Ingram, Kakay, Baptiste, Owens, Bidwell, Manning, Freeman, Cousins, Wszolek, Sylla (Oteh), Washington.

Goals – Washington (60), Baptiste (86).

All three QPR strikes:
