MATT Connolly has signed for Championship side Cardiff City today (Wednesday).

Amid the madness and excitement of potential inclusions, it must be noted that one of QPR’s longer serving players departed for pastures new today.

Signed in a January flurry by Luigi de Canio back in 2008, Connolly featured all the way across the back four, predominantly featuring at the heart of defence.

He and Kaspars Gorkss featured heavily as both QPR then Reading achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2011 and 2012 respectively and now he will be looking to emulate this with the Bluebirds.

Connolly signed a three-year deal in South Wales for an undisclosed fee, reportedly around the £500,000 figure. He made over 100 appearances in a QPR shirt, scoring twice.
