Despite a stunning third four-goal haul in succession, stand-in skipper Gavin Mahon has called for focus from his side.

Rangers stunned Pride Park and BBC viewers coming from two goals behind to trample Nigel Clough’s Derby County 4-2.

Mahon told QPR.co.uk that while the form is incredible at present, there is still a long way to go if the R’s are to achieve their ambitions.

‘Teams will look at that performance and think this QPR team is the real deal.’ said Mahon.

‘The gaffer has made it clear that the hard work is still very much ahead of us and we’re experienced enough to know that is very much the case,

‘Of course we’re enjoying the run we’re on at the moment, but nothing is rubber-stamped at this time of the year, so we’re all very much focused on what’s ahead.’

Mahon has hit a purple patch in form of late after an extended period out in the cold, but injuries to Mikele Leigertwood and Martin Rowlands along with the questionable discipline of Ben Watson has seen the former Watford man rejuvenated.

With Watson serving the second of a two match suspension against Leicester City, Mahon will partner the equally impressive Alejandro Faurlín in the middle on the park.
