Vital Huddersfield stopped by to answer our questions on Rangers latest addition – Joel Lynch

The 28-year-old signed a three-year deal with QPR – becoming Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s second summer signing.

We talked to the lads at Vital Huddersfield to get the low-down on Rangers’ new centre-half.

What is your initial reaction to the sale of JL? – It’s not a surprise that this move has happened, Joel’s agent made no secret to have pushed for this move and with his deal expiring in one year. This move gives the club a good transfer fee and we already have a replacement lined up.

What’s your reaction to the sale? – We all kind of knew this move was happening it was just a matter of time for it being formally announced so can’t say it’s come as a shock.

What kind of defender are QPR getting? – Lynch has great pace, which is superb for a covering defender. He can pick a pass, he is a physical threat at set pieces and has a powerful strike from distance in him, with cries at most home games of ‘shoot’ as Lynch picks the ball up 40 yards out. Also naturally left footed which seems to be a rarity these days.

Have your thoughts changed from when you signed JL to when he leaves, has he improved during his time? – When he first signed he was a Forest reject in many people’s eyes, but he has grown into probably our most reliable defender over the past four years when fit. That’s been his downfall missing games with nightly injuries but he does seem to have that behind him now.

What memorable moments has JL given you? – He won back to back goal of the season for Huddersfield in 2014 & 2015, Google the goals, for a defender to win those two seasons on the trot is a bit of a feat.

Any other info? – Joel is a genuinely nice guy off the field, helping out with a lot of the clubs charitable work and always making himself available. Perfect professional and a player who gives his all on the field, a loss to Huddersfield Town but a solid addition to QPR for sure and you have the benefit of him & Smithies for next season!

Our thanks to the lads at Vital Huddersfield
