The Queens Park Rangers club shop was broken into this morning and set alight by burglars.

The club superstore located in South Africa Road, the smaller of the two stores, was broken into at around 3.00am by burglars who made off with merchandise.

A fifth of the store was damaged by the subsequent fire and forensics were on the scene to examine the store.

Flats above the store had to be evacuated with ten people forced to leave their homes, but no-one was injured in the incident.

A police spokeswoman told the Ealing Gazette: ‘We understand that a number of items within the store had been stolen prior to a small fire discovered at the back of the premises. The fire is being treated as suspicious.’

The news outlet claimed that traders who returned to work this morning said burglars had repeatedly targeted the store and neighbouring businesses and investigations are ongoing into the cause of the blaze and the extent of the theft.
