JAMIE Mackie believes Saturday’s clash against at Anfield will mark a special occasion.

Following a positive result against Stoke City, Rangers limped to defeat against Norwich City – giving further credence to their sporadic away form this term.

This fixture has got the dressing room particularly excited with Bradley Orr, Clint Hill and Joey Barton but a few to fall on either side of the Liverpool divide.

Mackie believs that the crowd will play their part in what will undboutedly prove to be one of the stand-out fixtures of the campaign.

‘I am massively looking forward to this weekend – it is probably one of the highlight fixtures of the season,’ he told QPR.co.uk

‘Anfield is an unbelievable place to play football. It is going to be a great atmosphere up there, and I am sure our fans are looking forward to it as much as we are.

‘My dad is a Liverpool supporter and there are a few lads in the dressing room who support them too, so it is going to be a special match.

‘But we have got to work hard to try and bring our good recent football into this game. We want to go there and get a positive result.’

Rangers’ highlight on the road today in terms of venue has been Tottenham Hotspur, but this weekend marks their first visit to Liverpool since 1995.

Earlier this campaign, Rangers picked up an unbelievable result across the park against Everton – with Tommy Smith netting the only goal of the game.

A repeat performance of this would confound the critics with Rangers 9/1 in some quarters to pick up a victory at Anfield.
