Liverpool may have to change their tactical ploy as Kenny Daglish faces a midfield conundrum

With Steven Gerrard (ankle) and Lucas Leva (knee) out for the clash and Jay Spearing suspended for his dismissal at Fulham – Liverpool may have to adapt their set-up.

Jonjo Shelvey has been recalled from his loan spell at Blackpool to attempt to resolve the current problem.

Maxi Rodriguez and Charlie Adam could be accompanied by Jordan Henderson in the heart of midfield in a three man partnership – moving in from his previous position on the right.

While the back four should be settled with fans’ favourite Jamie Carragher set to sit out once more in light of useful defensive displays.

The forward line could consist of three from the attacking quartet of Dirk Kuyt, Craig Bellamy, Andy Carroll and the ever-lively Luis Suarez.

While this midfield would remain the envy of many Premier League club, the lack of strength in depth and the potential change in formation could provide a window of opportunity in an otherwise daunting prospect of Anfield.
