We have a right to celebrate! We have won the Championship fair & square. No FA hearing should deprive us of this right! Join me and let’s begin the party!

It is 5.45 pm and I`m sitting at home, on the eve of (what should be) the biggest end-of-season celebration in W12, with Sky Sports News running in the background as I pen this blog. Did I mention that, when I returned home from school this afternoon at 4.00 pm, the first thing I did was not greet my wonderful daughters, but turn the television on?!

I honestly cannot wait for tomorrow – but at the same time, upbeat and excited as I am, I just have to listen to Sky`s continuous news round-up, just in case ? Isn`t it crazy? So, just in case the FA does get its act together and makes an announcement this evening (after all, it is well past 4.00 pm now), I am glued to the television. I flit between VitalQPR and Twitter – trying to find out where all the post-match celebratory parties are going to be, so that I can work out how I can get from one to the other (I do not intend to miss ANY, if I can help it!) – whilst at the same time, glancing up to the t.v. screen to make sure there isn`t one of those “Breaking News” banners, that comes up in yellow, flashing across the screen.

So far there hasn`t been (phew!) and, the longer this goes on without an FA announcement, the more hopeful I am that this farcical mess will end up seeing us promoted as Champions having had no points deducted from our incredible achievement of 88 points (to date). I hope!

And let`s be totally honest, this has been a farcical mess of gigantic proportions. Whatever the legal reasons are behind first, the delay until this week to hold the hearing and then, second, to delay the announcement past 4.00pm today, as originally planned by the FA apparently; this hearing has descended into a disgraceful mockery. Rumours still abound – most of them negative because heaven forbid anyone says anything complimentary about QPR – speculation, gossip and hearsay are still rife – but there is no substance, no facts.

Well, one FACT is that the Championship trophy WILL be presented to QPR after the match tomorrow. And here is another FACT – there will be no announcement tonight and I presume that means not before the end of the weekend. So, I am now going to presume that, when that verdict arrives, it is not going to affect our promotion as champions and, therefore, I am going to celebrate – FACT!

I do NOT want to be deprived of celebrating. If I were to be cautious and say to myself I should wait until the FA announcement is made, it will be too late to party, party, party! Mates like Lenny would have flown back to Brasil; there would be no television focus like the BBC`s live coverage of our match tomorrow; newspapers wouldn`t be bothered to splash images of us holding the trophy all over their sports sections; I`d probably be at work (who wouldn`t) and therefore unable to get to Loftus Road for any celebration that may then belatedly be planned (notice how I am still assuming this will all end up positively for QPR – my optimistic self has returned, rested and relaxed, and ready to resume battle with all those “nay-sayers” and “doom-merchants”!)

Tomorrow we have a unique opportunity to celebrate the fantastic, awesome, brilliant achievement of Neil Warnock (who has turned our club around in the short space of 13 months – remember, this time last year, we were celebrating that we weren`t relegated!) and his band of merry men – heroes each and every one of them – this season. And no matter what fate awaits us, when finally we hear from the FA enquiry, nobody but NOBODY can take away the simple, mathematical FACT that we have been the best team in the Championship this season! We have earned the right, through blood, sweat, toil and some tears (well, Taarabt`s temper tantrums!) to be called “champions” – to receive the trophy and winners` medals in front of a partisan home crowd at Loftus Road tomorrow.

I, for one, do NOT intend to miss out on celebrating this season`s successes – do you really want to either?
