Earlier today, Queens Park Rangers confirmed that attacker Paul Smyth had completed a move out to League One side Wycombe Wanderers on a season long loan spell so he could continue his development.
The 21-year-old Northern Ireland prospect already has 19 appearances to his name for QPR, with a return of two goals and he spent the second half of last season out on loan at League One level with Accrington Stanley, where he made 16 appearances, scoring three times.
👊 Good luck at @wwfcofficial, @paul_ps17! #QPR 🔵⚪️

Speaking to the Official Site manager Mark Warburton was very positive about Smyth’s future at Loftus Road, but he talked up the importance of him getting regular game time to develop further and gain experience.
“Paul came to the club, settled in well and made a very positive impression. However, he now needs to continue his development by playing regular first-team football and in Gareth and Wycombe we have the perfect environment for this to happen. Our focus has to be on having Paul develop as swiftly as possible and there is no better teacher than playing the game itself. We will work closely with Gareth, someone we trust and respect very much, to ensure that Paul’s development is closely monitored, with the focus on being to have Paul return to the club at the end of the season a better player for the experience.”
A glowing assessment of Gareth Ainsworth and I think we can assume from his words that conversations have already been had as to how Wycombe can best use him in a way that suits all involved parties here.
Genuinely feel this will be like when we sent @EbereEze10 out on loan, he’ll come back either jan or end of the season and slot into the team easily. This is a vital loan for him and I’m sure he’ll smash it

Yes. Lively and has goals in him. Tiny lad often pushed off the ball but makes up for it with great pace and passion. You’ll like him I reckon- honestly thought he was going to get his chance this season at QPR. Good luck this season.

Why the hell Smyth isn’t getting a chance at QPR when he offers so many different options really beggars belief. I’ve been generally happy with the transfer window so far but this is a mistake, IMO

Wrong to let him go on loan if you ask me
