All today`s breaking news from the Championship as sides manoeuvre for position in the transfer market.

Will Blackpool get their man? Will Derby snare their long-term target? – Read on!

Blackpool are eyeing an appointment sooner rather than later following the recent departure of Tony Parkes following the completion of his caretaker charge. Cambridge boss Gary Brabin has been given permission to speak to ‘Pool following the U`s recent failure to jump the final hurdle against Torquay United – who were promoted back to the Football League.

An ex-Blackpool player Brabin is a growing figure in the game and is seen as an exciting replacement by many Blackpool fans who saw former boss Simon Grayson opt for a move to Elland Road.

The Robins are set to raid Southampton for the signature of goalkeeper Kelvin Davis. Southampton`s financial woes are well documented and City are looking to lure the keeper to Ashton Gate following the completion of his contract at St Marys.

The Jamaican defender Claude Davis has been on loan from Derby County to Warnock`s Eagles and now the former Sheffield United boss is looking to land the defender on a permanent basis.

It is rumoured that Nigel Clough will release the defender freeing him up for a move to Selhurst Park, with Warnock also looking to bolster his attacking line after committing his future to the side.

The Rams are eyeing a swoop on recently promoted Exeter City having tabled a “six figure sum” for Dean Moxey. The utility player played a key role in Exeter`s rise through into the Football League and beyond.

Derby are not giving up on the capture of full back Shaun Barker despite their £500,000 bid being knocked back by ‘Pool chairman Karl Oyston.

There could be a mass exodus at the Keepmoat Stadium as Doncaster Rovers appear to be becoming victims of their own success. Richie Wellens has been heavily linked with a move to Leicester City, but their bids have been refuted by chairman John Ryan: “Unless they come up with a lucrative offer, Richie is going nowhere,” he said.

Meanwhile there has also been interest in former Manchester City defender Matthew Mills from newly-promoted Birmingham City and the blues have also added midfielder Brian Stock to their shopping list if recent reports are to be believed.

New Town boss Roy Keane is working hard to secure deals for a number of players with three players continually linked with transfers to Portman Road.

David Healy, Bobo Balde and Lee Martin head Keane`s hit-list as he looks to rejuvenate his squad. Keane said: “It might be players that I have managed before, players that have been in the opposition when I’ve been a manager or maybe players that I have played with.

“It’s important to get the right characters in. That’s the main thing. There are some talented players here already and I’ve been pleasantly surprised but we need a bit more to have a chance of getting out of this league.”

Young striker Billy Clarke whose goals fired Brentford to promotion is rumoured to be a target for Notts County after Roy Keane deemed him surplus to requirements at Portman Road.

Hungarian defender Krisztian Timar has been told that he can move clubs should someone come in for him. The former QPR target was voted Argyle`s Player of the Year last season but has been left frustrated by the lack of recent opportunities at Home Park.

Manager Paul Sturrock is under pressure to cut the wage bill at Home Park and Timar`s departure could free up some much-needed funds.

The Swans have confirmed that they`ve had a bid accepted from Liverpool for winger Paul Anderson – a player that turned down a move to the Liberty Stadium in favour of Nottingham Forest last summer.

Anderson played a key role in the Swans promotion to the second tier and the Welsh outfit have had a six-figure bid accepted for the 20-year-old winger.

Meanwhile the club are looking to tie up a deal for Southampton wide-man Nathan Dyer but it is believed their current bid falls some way short of the Saints £500,000 asking price.
