Vital QPR takes a look at the latest from the Championship rumour mill

Barnsley:

Swansea City are closing in on the signature of Hugo Colace, as another Tykes player opts to defect to Championship rivals in favour of a new deal.

Soon after Daniel Bogdanovic leapt across Yorkshire to join Sheffield United, Colace now seems likely to defect and turn his back on the fans that voted him Player of the Season.

Cardiff City:

The rumour that seems to rumble on and it seems that Cardiff are set to finally cash in on midfielder Joe Ledley after months of speculation.

Formerly a target for the likes of Everton and Celtic, Ledley is now courting the interest of Stoke City and Premier League new boys West Bromwich Albion.

Meanwhile Soloman Taiwo returns to the club after a proposed deal to Norwich City fell through for what is believed to be a failed medical.

Crystal Palace:

Could a third spell be on the cards for Clinton Morrison at Selhurst Park? – Reports have refused to be ruled out by Eagles boss George Burley.

The striker may be looking for a move back to SE25 after leaving Coventry City, but is there another shot at the club he is rated highly?

Doncaster Rovers:

Doncaster are eyeing a free transfer swoop for former loanee Simon Gillett following his release from Southampton.

The League One club shed the young midfielder who had a decent spell at the Keepmoat last season and Sean O’Driscoll is reportedly toying with bringing him back permanently.

Hull City:

The rather inevitable departure has nearly come to fruition with Geovanni looking at options abroad to escape the KC Stadium.

Panathinaikos and AEK Athens are two of the parties interested in the Brazilian whose first season on Humberside was highly influential in keeping the Tigers in the top flight.

Ipswich Town:

Roy Keane is looking to bolster his strike force with the potential addition of playoff hero DJ Campbell who remains unfancied at Leicester.

The striker who signed for the Foxes under Ian Holloway has failed to impress Nigel Pearson, but may stick around at the Walkers depending on who they appoint.

Leeds United:

A fifth summer signing could be in the offing for boss Simon Grayson as he chases Charlton Athletic wide-man Lloyd Sam.

Meanwhile they are reportedly still monitoring the situation with strike duo Billy Sharp and Scunthorpe’s Gary Hooper – as they seek Jermaine Beckford’s replacement.

Leicester City:

The managerial rumours continued to flood in thick and fast with Paulo Sousa reportedly a prime candidate for the post at the Walkers Stadium.

Other names include Leeds United boss Simon Grayson, while former Foxes man Micky Adams has been coy on his link with a move back to Leicester.

Middlesbrough:

Gordon Strachan seems on a mission to buy up the SPL as he makes a fresh approach for Glasgow Rangers forward Kris Boyd.

The striker who failed to show up for talks with Turkish club Kayserispor is still a hot target for Strachan, while he continues to track Scunthorpe front-man Gary Hooper.

Millwall:

The club have denied making a bid for Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson despite maintaining interest in the free-scoring forward.

Norwich City are also thought to be in the race for the signature of the £500,000 rated Jamaican who has courted the interest of many clubs in recent years.

Norwich City:

Championship new boys Norwich are growing frustrated in their wait for former loan ‘keeper Fraser Forster as Paul Lambert considers other targets.

The ‘keeper who helped City to promotion last season has been pursued by Lambert for quite some time, but with Newcastle boss Chris Hughton dragging his heels, it remains as to whether he’ll link up with the Canaries.

Nottingham Forest:

It must be a transfer window as Nottingham Forest are being linked with everybody who’s anybody, including the likes of former loanee Nicky Shorey.

The full-back who impressed last season could be joined by Cardiff City’s Peter Whittingham and Swansea City’s Darren Pratley if recent rumours are to be believed.

Portsmouth:

Once again there is an inevitablility around some departures at Fratton Park with Nadir Belhadj almost certain he will be a Lazio player next season.

But better news – arguably – for Pompey supporters is that Dave Nugent has been convinced to stay in his comfort zone of the Championship and should line up for the club next season.

Preston North End:

Departure rumours run rife at present at Deepdale following Ross Wallace leaving for Burnley – Youl Mawene is being linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday and former boss Alan Irvine.

Meanwhile Richard Chaplow is reportedly a target for Swansea City as they eye another midfielder, but former Burnley defender Steven Caldwell could pen a free transfer deal.

Scunthorpe United:

Michael Collins is reportedly desperate to move to Scunthorpe following the failure of Huddersfield to achieve promotion.

The Terriers are looking for a five figure transfer fee despite telling Collins he is surplus to requirements at the Galpharm Stadium.

Sheffield United:

The Blades have handed trials to Danny Butterfield and Rob Kozluk as they bid to earn themselves a deal at Bramall Lane.

They are also trialing former QPR man Tom Williams as they look to sure up their rearguard ahead of the new campaign.

Swansea City:

The items that are covered above involve Paulo Sousa’s possible link with Leicester City and Richard Chaplow bolstering the Swans midfield ahead of a potential Darren Pratley departure.
