First team coach Gary Waddock has praised QPR duo Dean Sturridge and Ian Evatt for their reserve football performances and believes that they are forcing themselves into first team contention following our 3-1 reserve win v Southend.
He said on the official site: ‘I was really pleased with Evatt and Sturridge’s attitude and they both put in a decent performance. The reserve games seem to be scattered about a bit and you can find yourself without a game for a couple of weeks, but we need to keep the boys ticking over.’
Waddock also says that the reserves could provide the springboard for Shabazz Baidoo and Donnelly.
‘Shabazz looked very sharp and was a real handful all afternoon. Scott Donnelly needs games as he missed a big chunk of last season and we want to get him playing on a more regular basis.
With injuries usually kicking in as we approach the winter, there may well be more than a few opportunities, lets hope they can take them with both hands, or feet as the case may be! Lets face it, reserve football is one thing, first team action is an altogether different proposition.
