Kenny: Up For The Cup

Paddy Kenny believes that Chelsea will be a very different proposition this time round, but is looking forward to the impending cup clash.

The QPR stopper featured as Rangers recorded a win earlier this Premier League campaign against Chelsea, Heidar Helguson netting the only goal of the game from the spot.

The neighbours lost their temper in a cauldron of noise in W12, with Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba seeing red for the visiting team.

Kenny reflected on the fixture last time out, believing that Rangers more than matched their opponents – especially when the Blues had a full compliment of players.

‘I don’t think too many people gave us much hope when we played them last time but we ended up winning the game,’ he told QPR.co.uk

‘I know they had a couple sent off but sometimes it can be harder when you play against ten men, and then obviously they had another go, but I thought we played better when it was 11 v 11.

‘I don’t think I had a save to make during that period.’

Kenny stated that while the victory earlier this campaign was an excellent experience to be involved in – Chelsea still have a wealth of talent at their disposal.

He continued: ‘It’s going to be a very difficult game because we are coming up against some of the best players in the world,’ he added.

‘But it is nice to test yourself against them and we’re going to go out there, give it our best and see what happens.’

‘I think everyone is on a high after our last two wins. It has brought a lot of confidence into the squad.

‘The lads have all trained really hard this week and now we are all just looking forward to it. We can’t wait for the game.’

Rangers progressed to this stage with their first FA Cup win in 11 years against Milton Keynes Dons. Danny Gabbidon separating the two sides at Loftus Road after the aforementioned Helguson snatched a replay.

Chelsea were far more comfortable victors against Portsmouth, with three goals in the final five minutes sealing a 4-0 win against the Championship side.
