Paul Jones has completed a deal to join Rangers until the end of the season.

The former Wolves and Liverpool goalkeeper put pen to paper on Thursday morning and will join up with his new team mates tomorrow.

Rangers have been searching for a fit goalkeeper after both professional stoppers Simon Royce and Jake Cole were injured. Phil Barnes started against Leeds last week but was only available for seven days.

Jones (38) is Gary Waddock’s first signing since he took over the caretaker role following the departure of Ian Holloway.

Jones, who has won 44 Welsh caps told www.stellargroup.co.uk he was enthusiastic about joining.

‘I am really pleased to have signed for QPR. It has all happened pretty quickly, but once I spoke to the club and heard their thoughts on what they were looking for from me, I had little hesitation in signing until the end of the season.

‘I am going to train as hard as possible and hopefully force my way into the team. But I know a lot about Simon Royce and he is a very good goalkeeper so it should be a very interesting few months and hopefully there will be a good competition for the goalkeepers spot.’
