Jim Slams Poor Display

Jim Magilton failed to hide his disappointment following the draw at home to Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

The QPR boss told QPR.co.uk that his players were too laid back once taking the lead, branding it the worst display of the season.

He said: ‘We need to be far more inventive going forward, but it just isn’t happening for us at the moment.

‘Out of all our performances yet this season, that was definitely our poorest.

‘It’s still very much work in progress, but we’ve got to improve quickly.

‘It was like a Friday morning five-a-side at times, unbelievably laid back and open, and that’s not what I expect from my players.’

A stunning strike from Mikele Leigertwood was pegged back in the second period by a poachers goal from former Southampton front-man David McGoldrick.

Despite praising the strike from Leigertwood, Magilton wasn`t happy with how open the game appeared, and despite urging caution going into the second half his side ‘gifted` Forest the equalising goal.

‘It was a classic strike from Mikele, but the game was far too open for my liking,” Magilton continued.

‘It was really frenetic stuff, a case of you have it, we have it, and we’ll see who scores first.

‘I felt we could take a stranglehold after we scored, but we didn’t and that really disappoints me.

‘At half-time there was a precautionary note, simply because we didn’t defend properly in the first half.

‘And low and behold, we gifted them an equaliser, but at the end of the day, we haven’t lost the game and that’s important.’

Rangers now host Accrington Stanley in the Carling Cup second round on Tuesday night in a bid to continue their good goalscoring record from the last round.

The R`s put five past Exeter City at the first stage but have looked a shadow of that free-scoring side in recent times as they rediscover their jitters infront of the target.
