Jim Magilton is looking forward to the release of the fixtures and indicated that he looks to start the season with a bang.

No sooner had the Carling Cup draw been announced and the Queens Park Rangers manager is now itching for his first test at Loftus Road with the fixtures being announced tomorrow.

The former Ipswich boss has started every season in his managerial career at home, the most memorable being the 4-1 thumping of Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road.

Magilton indicated that a start like this would be ideal for both players and management as he looks to begin the campaign in W12.

‘The fixture release day is when everyone really gets buzzing again for the season ahead – and I’m no different,’ Magilton told QPR.co.uk

‘Of course, we’d love to start with a home fixture on day one. It would be great for myself and John (Gorman) to kick-start the campaign with a home match, in front of the QPR supporters who have been so supportive to us both in our short time here.’

The new duo of Magilton and his assistant John Gorman believe that the pressure will be on the R`s from day one to perform and a winning start will be important as Rangers continue to plan for the opening day.

‘The hard work really starts now for us,’ continued Magilton

‘Once the fixtures come out on Wednesday, we can really start planning for the season ahead.

‘As a professional, I always kept an eye out for the fixture release day, because it’s when you really start focusing your attentions towards the new season again.

‘It’s always important to get off to a winning start. All eyes will be on us, but I love that pressure and if we can get off to a winning start, then that will be great.’

The Football League fixtures are released at 10.00am tomorrow and Vital QPR will outline the key dates for your diary as QPR move into a brave new world under Jim Magilton.
