Jay Simpson revealed his and his team-mates’ frustration at the weekend result believing that Rangers were the better side.

Simpson equalised an early Leon Best goal, before the R’s took the lead courtesy of a deflected effort from Ákos Buzsáky.

Coventry snatched a late point when Richard Wood ghosted into the six-yard box unmarked to head home the leveller.

The Arsenal loanee told QPR.co.uk that he was frustrated by the manner of conceded goals.

‘We were all very disappointed at the final whistle,’ he said.

‘It was two points dropped, because we played so well for the majority of the game and didn’t deserve to come away with just a point to show for our efforts.

‘To concede from two set-pieces was very disappointing, especially following on from the goals we conceded against Doncaster the week before, so that’s frustrating.’

Simpson snatched his eighth goal of the season, sparking speculation that he may be on the verge of a recall to Arsenal, owing to an injury to Dutch international Robin van Persie.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Millwall front-man was pleased with his overall display in the game, as he grows in stature in the forward line.

Jay continued: ‘It’s been going well for me personally and long may that continue.

‘I’m here to score goals and fortunately I’ve been doing that since I arrived here.

‘I think my speed and my timing are getting me in positions where I’m able to test defences and thankfully I’ve been putting most of my chances away this season.’

Simpson will be looking to add to his tally as Rangers take on Middlesbrough on Saturday, while the defenders will be looking for a stark improvement.
