“It’s A Big Summer For Me” – QPR Man Is Determined To Make The Grade In 2019/20

Queens Park Rangers’ youngster, Olamide Shodipo, made only his third appearance of the 2018/19 campaign as caretaker gaffer John Eustace used him as a late substitute in last weekend’s defeat to Nottingham Forest at Loftus Road.

The 21-year-old has made a total of seven starting appearances for our senior side, as well as ten showings from the substitutes bench, and he bolstered his development by taking in two loan spells with Port Vale and Colchester United in previous seasons.

Injuries have hampered his development though but the young lad seems desperate to make his mark next season, as speaking to the Official Site this week, he admitted he was already planning his off-season training regime so he could hopefully return in peak condition and really give himself a chance of establishing his name under whoever eventually becomes our new gaffer.

Reflecting on his efforts against Forest, he explained.

“When I came on, I wanted to be positive and help the team; get crosses into the box and get shots off. Hopefully I can play at Sheffield Wednesday – it will all be down to the manager – and if I do get my chance then I want to take it. It’s a big summer for me. I’m going to go away and look after myself. When I come back, I’ll be ready for pre-season. I’ll be doing more work to make sure that I am as fit as possible for pre-season.”

He added.

“Next season will be an important season for me. I want to prove to everyone that I can play in this division and play in this team. I believe I can play at this level, and it is about getting my opportunity, staying fit and taking my chance when it comes.”

With QPR no doubt continuing to have a more youthful flavour given the finances at the club, if he can step up and show he can perform at this level, he should be guaranteed game time but it’s always a big ask of a youngster.
