Queens Park Rangers have been turned down in their bid to sign Italian Stefano Guberti from Bari.

Guberti was recently promoted from Serie B with Bari, managed by former Juventus star Antonio Conte.

His agent revealed that Queens Park Rangers had approached him but he is instead waiting for a deal to be put together by Roma: “We are interested in Roma’s project and Stefano sees them as his first choice,” Claudio De Nicola said on Radio Centro Suono Sport.

“He is a lad at the start of his career, even if he has done very well this season.

“Last week I spoke to the Roma directors and Guberti could be offered a four-year deal.

“Within a month I hope to have a deal completed. We turned down an offer from Flavio Briatore’s QPR to wait for Roma.”

In a short term deal with Galletti the midfielder scored six goals in 12 games helping them to promotion to the top division in Italy.

The 24-year-old looks set to pass Luigi De Canio`s Lecce on the way to Serie A with Giallorossi losing out in the final minute in a crunch tie against Bologna last weekend. They are now firmly rooted to the bottom of top flight.
