Is Park Taking The Money?

FORMER QPR player Lee Cook has questioned whether Park Ji Sung’s heart is in W12 – does he have a point?

He arrived at Loftus Road with high billing, with the official website falling over themselves in revealing the transfer coup of the summer.

In truth Park has flattered to deceive thus far, putting in a couple of good performances among a string of inconsistent displays both in the heart of midfield and latterly on the left.

His time in W12 seems to mirror that of Joey Barton – without the loud mouth and thuggery of course. Installed as captain from the off, Park found the going tough in the middle.

Mark Hughes has sought to accommodate the South Korean on the left, and has been withdrawn on successive occasions in recent matches. An exact mirror of Barton’s earlier days in W12.

While I don’t expect Park to lose his rag and chin the Everton team in one fell swoop, Lee Cook’s criticism comes as a surprise in terms of the effort of the R’s skipper.

To my mind Park Ji Sung has been very hard-working, but it has been completely misdirected – making him appear more like a headless chicken than a top flight professional.

In terms of effort, I don’t think Park can be criticised – he huffs and he puffs, but again his misguided attempts are taking the shine off what the club perceived to be landmark capture.

Those watching against West Bromwich Albion saw a glimmer of improvement, but posed the question why a natural wide-man wasn’t put in, in his stead – such as Junior Hoilett or Jamie Mackie.

This is not a witch hunt when it comes to Park, but there are players in and around the team that have been dropped for far less – and can a man be put in on effort alone?

Cook was asked a question regarding QPR and answered it honestly, but seems to have missed the point entirely with Park – his effort is evident, his positional sense and overall play is where the debate must be held.
