Queens Park Rangers boss Neil Warnock is still searching for viable transfer options – but are fans already getting inpatient with his approach?
You only have to scour certain message-boards to see the jury is still out on some of Warnock’s captures, and the reported interest we’re showing in players going forward.
Fans that have called for Warnock, and more managerial control when it comes to transfers have evidently become alarmed by a perceived lack of movement for a centre-forward.
The importance of a striker is not lost of the experienced manager Warnock who has stated several times that we need to bolster the forward line, and is still striving to do so.
Thus far Warnock has signed what he has professed to be squad players in Leon Clarke and Jamie Mackie, and while still searching for others, sections are growing frustrated.
Names such as James Beattie would command a vulgar weekly wage, and could only serve to create instability, which is why willing workers and fighters should be sort for the cause.
When linked with Martin Woods of Doncaster Rovers it shamed me to see how many across the boards turned their nose up an in incredibly arrogant manner, instead turning conversations back to the striker.
This is where the trust factor that Warnock mentioned comes into play – you don’t have to necessarily sign household names to build a positive squad, and Woods could be key to this new look side.
Evidently it is still a rumour at this stage but the importance in a general sense shouldn’t be understated, and for a household name we bought Damiano Tommasi, and received little in the way of product.
I would be the last person to second guess a manager with a track record such as Warnock’s, but if he says we lack fire-power you can bet he’s still in for a centre forward – and one of genuine quality.
Patience should be the key for the supporters that are losing faith, and an open mind for the players he has already introduced, because the experience of Warnock dictates he has faith in the current crop.
So why shouldn’t we?
