Eddie Ilderton from Tyne & Wear will take charge of the R’s trip to Nottingham Forest tomorrow evening.

The official joined the National List of referees in 2002, and since then has refereed a handful of playoff fixtures while plying his trade at all levels of the Football League.

Earlier this season he prompted Ian Holloway to perform a bizarre striptease act in anger, sending off Blackpool’s Ian Evatt and Rob Edwards.

Against Forest he will be assisted by Mark Brown (East Yorkshire) and Andy Madley (West Yorkshire) with the fourth official Ian Smedley (Derbyshire).

He has taken charge of Rangers only twice in that time and these fixtures against Wigan and Barnsley are documented below.

Refereeing Rangers

In what was billed as a battle of two of Division Two’s front-running sides, Rangers travelled to the JJB Stadium in a bid to assert their position near the top of the table.

On a cold October evening Andy Liddell opened the scoring for the Latics before Andy Thomson pegged the scores level on the stroke of half time, as the R’s held on for a point.

His had to wait six years for his next meeting with QPR and it was a daunting midweek trip to Barnsley. In truth it was a dour fixture at Oakwell that ended goaless.

It could have been better for the Tykes had István Ferenczi put away his guilt-edge chance, in the night that Britain and in particular Barnsley shook at the hands of an earthquake.

In 22 games this season he has handed out 60 yellow cards and four reds giving him an average of 2.90 cards per game.
