Former Queens Park Rangers player and manager Ian Holloway has landed the vacant post at Blackpool.
Holloway has returned to football as manager at Bloomfield Road with the 46-year-old signing a one-year deal with the Tangerines.
Ian signed for QPR in August 1991 for £230,000 from hometown club Bristol Rovers, he went on to make 169 appearances for the R`s scoring five goals.
He joined Rangers as manager in the troubled relegation season of 2000-01, and helped transform the club into a promotion challenging side despite only starting pre-season with eight players.
After five fun filled years in W12 with memorable lines and one amazing day in Hillsborough, Ian departed under a cloud with then chairman Gianni Paladini placing the charismatic boss on gardening leave.
He went on to manage Plymouth Argyle securing a bargain buy in Manchester United forward Sylvan Ebanks-Blake for the Pilgrims.
It wasn`t long before he was on the move again when Milan Mandaric persuaded him to join Leicester City, but he couldn`t save them from relegation to League One and was ultimately sacked.
He has been out of the game since the final game of last season – the Foxes fateful day at promoted Stoke City – but now the magnanimous former boss is back where he belongs, in the managerial hot-seat.
Former goalkeeper Chris Day spoke exclusively to Vital QPR a few months ago about his former manager: “Working with Ollie was a fantastic experience not at least for the fact we got all the one liners before you did!
“On a serious note I felt he put a lot of pride and passion back into the club and was the sort of ‘Gaffer’ that you could talk to about anything , whether it be football or personal .
“You only have to read his book to be inspired and get an insight to everything that went on.”
