“I just felt down”: QPR man opens up on difficulties of current situation

|

Queens Park Rangers striker Jordan Hugill has admitted that he is finding it hard without football right now and that Tyson Fury’s book has been a big help to him.

The R’s last played a game on March 7 and they haven’t trained for over a month as players follow the government guidelines that prevents gatherings. Therefore, Hugill, like players up and down the country, has been working from home as he looks to stay in shape ahead of the season resuming – even though we don’t know when that will be. And, speaking to TalkSPORT, the on-loan West Ham man was brutally honest as he opened up on his struggles.

I’ve had days where I’ve woken up and had a coffee and sat with my head in my hands and thought ‘oh god’. I just felt down and there’s no other way to explain it.

I’ve read Tyson Fury’s book, the audiobook, he said the biggest thing for him is making sure he’s reliable to get to the gym every morning and that sets him on the right path. For me, getting up and those days when I’m feeling down I drag myself into the gym, do some work, and I come out feeling a bit better.”

Will QPR finish in the top six this season?

Yes

No

Everyone connected to the London club will be hoping for the season to resume as the R’s had been in great form prior to the enforced break, going on a six-game unbeaten run that left them within six points of the play-off places. Hugill has been key to Mark Warburton’s side in that period too, scoring two goals to take his tally in the league to 11 for the season.

Whilst the league have made it clear that they want to finish the season, there’s still no sign as to when the campaign will restart. It has been claimed by EFL chief Rick Parry that training could resume in mid-May and the remaining nine games could be complete in just 56 days once they begin.
