MARK Hughes would like to keep midfielder Samba Diakité regardless of QPR’s status next season.

The Rs boss has outlined his plans for Diakité future at QPR and hopes for the influential Malian to stay beyond the end of the current campaign.

He told the Ealing Gazette:: ‘Everything’s been agreed. There’s a figure we have to pay if we want to make it permanent.

‘I’m not going to go into details but we hope we’ll be able to make it permanent because he’s done very well.’

Hughes is believed to have agreed a £3.5m deal for the midfielder, with a view to taking place once the loan expires at the end of this current season.

The midfielder – who has adapted to Premier League life well after a difficult start – will be in the running to regain his place against Stoke City.

Diakité – on loan from French club Nancy – missed out against Chelsea owing to a virus and his presence was missed in the heart of midfield.
