Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is relishing the prospect of facing his former club this weekend as Rangers travel to Bloomfield Road.

Speaking to Blackpool Player the Tangerines boss admits that while he has fond memories of his time at Loftus Road he’ll be looking to get one over on his former employers.

‘I can’t wait to take on my old team,’ he said.

‘A lot of history there for me, five years as a player in the top flight – five years as a manager, relegated, promoted and good luck to them but not on Saturday.

‘My whole life has changed a little bit after that.’

Holloway’s first game in charge of Blackpool was a 1-1 draw against Rangers at Loftus Road, where Peter Ramage was the unlikely equalising goalscorer as the R’s claimed a more than deserved point.

The former Newcastle United man cancelled out Ben Burgess’ opener after some good work by Gary Taylor-Fletcher down the left.

The Pool gaffer insists that his side will do their utmost against one of the teams he deemed as one of the best in the division.

‘My boys have got to go out there and try and beat them,’ Olly continued.

‘They`re one of the best teams we’ve played so far this season.

‘If you look at how they did against us we were fortunate to scrape a point although it could have been all three and we’d have nicked it wouldn`t we.

‘Let’s see what we can do now, it’s a tough fixture.’

Rangers have only got the better of Ian Holloway once since his departure, a New Years Day victory over Leicester City under the guidance of Luigi De Canio.

He will undoubtedly get a familiar warm reception from the travelling Rangers supporters as they embark on their journey to Lancashire this weekend.
