Queens Park Rangers winger Hogan Ephraim has called on his side to put in a better first half display against Plymouth Argyle.

The former West Ham United winger revealed how the QPR boss Jim Magilton couldn`t hide his disappointment at the first half display the R`s showed at Exeter City on Tuesday.

Despite a mediocre opening period the R`s went on to win 5-0 courtesy of a hatrick from Wayne Routledge, a debut strike from Alessandro Pellicori and a Hogan Ephraim wonder-goal.

‘We’ll need to start well,’ Hogan told QPR.co.uk

‘Plymouth is never an easy place to go and we’ll need to be much better than we were in the first half at Exeter in the opening 45 minutes on Saturday.

‘The gaffer really got stuck into us at the break on Tuesday. We knew we weren’t playing to the usual high tempo and he reiterated that in no uncertain terms. But to be fair to the lads, we responded with a display full of quality and class in the second half.

‘We’ll need to show that again at Plymouth for the whole 90 minutes on Saturday.’

Commenting on his own strike Ephraim told how Rangers have an emphasis on more goals from midfield this campaign.

He said: ‘It’s nice to get off the mark early on in the season.

‘The lads all agree that we need to get more goals from midfield this season and both myself and Wayne have opened our accounts after two matches, so it bodes well.’

Rangers travel to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday with a view to extending their unbeaten start and maintaining a positive beginning on the road.
