Queens Park Rangers defender Matt Hill insists that he got a touch on the ball for the hotly-contested late spot-kick.

Reading secured all three points late on courtesy of Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty, after he was felled by Wolves loanee Hill.

The defender was in fine form throughout the ninety following Rangers going down to ten men mid-way through the first period.

Two goal-line clearances and what looked to be useful last ditch challenge were to be his legacy as Rangers valiantly battled the odds at the Madejski.

Referee Gavin Ward had other ideas, as he pointed to the spot for what Hall told QPR.co.uk was definitely a corner.

He said: ‘It was good skill from the lad, but as he’s reached, I’m sure I played the ball away for a corner kick,’

‘I was ready to go back in and defend the set-piece and then the referee points for a penalty.

‘He’s kidded the referee – I know I touched the ball, so it’s bitterly disappointing.’

Hall has secured his starting berth ahead of Gary Borrowdale under Neil Warnock and his performances have improved under the former Sheffield United boss.

Last night (Tuesday) marked the first defeat for Rangers under Warnock, and it was a bitter pill to swallow given Rangers’ dogged spirit.
