With plenty of fall out following Queens Park Rangers’ defeat to Norwich City last weekend, fans haven’t been shy in coming forward about the deficiencies in our game and where they believe manager Steve McClaren got it wrong tactically and in terms of the formation.
With a number of fans pointing out players were out of position in an attacking sense and that unfortunately hindered their own performances and impact on the game, plenty were happy to largely absolve young talent Ebere Eze owing to that.
There is another side to that coin though when it comes to our 20-year-old starlet and it’s probably not that unfair to make a point out of it – you don’t get things handed to you on a plate in football, at least not often, so in games like that another step in his development is to learn how to make more of an impact even if he’s not quite where he’d want to be.
Eze need to learn how to move into space when #QPR are in possession.
At the moment he watches the ball, unaware of what's going on around him.— Splat (@Splat_Blatter) September 23, 2018
Totally agree. You’ve either got to play him centrally or you don’t play him at all Neil. Offers nothing out wide. Freeman can do a job on the left but even his ability is wasted on the flank. Got to find a natural balance. Norwich controlled the midfield yesterday.

Like what we have done in the previous 4 games, unfortunately Steve got the set up wrong today, baptiste was poor and eze really didn’t get involved

Out of position as was freeman

It’s alright saying Eze was wasted out wide but he had to do more to get involved looked totally disinterested #QPR

Disappointing loss today but we deserved to lose. We were poor from the off, Eze looked out of it but arguably was playing out of position. Freeman’s lazy and our shooting as a team was dreadful. McCalren also made subs too late so they had little impact on game. ????????♂️ #QPR

Me looking at the lineup yesterday, seeing Eze on the wing, wondering why nothing was working#QPR pic.twitter.com/mGicbEhmkF

I don’t think the above comments are out of order and I’m sure Eze has sat there thinking on the game about what he could’ve done differently, but it’s all a learning curve and he could certainly do worse than taking some of it on board as there are constructive comments.
He’s young and learning though and I have no doubt semi knocks like the last game will only make him stronger in time.
