HEIDAR Helguson has signed for Cardiff City today (Thursday) for an undisclosed fee.

The Icelandic international has moved on from QPR today after an eventful spell at Loftus Road – culminating in a deserved season of top flight football.

Helguson joined under Paulo Sousa in 2008 and he proved effective under the guidance of the former Portuguese international. While it was a good initial spell, things proved more difficult under Jim Magilton.

Rangers started playing some good passing football and naturally did not play to Helguson’s strengths – making him redundant and eventually seeing him loaned out to the club where he made his name, Watford.

Neil Warnock eventually threw Heidar back into the fray to great effect as he helped fire QPR to promotion, while scoring a couple of crucial goals that helped Rangers retain their status.

He signed for Cardiff City today (August 2, 2012), reuniting with former boss and team-mate Malky Mackay – the fee for the forward remaining undisclosed.
