Prospective Queens Park Rangers capture Tom Heaton was hailed by Rochdale boss Keith Hill.

Rochdale pulled off a dramatic away win over League Two front-runners Dagenham & Redbridge, and on loan ‘keeper Heaton starred for the Dale.

The Manchester United stopper pulled off a string of outstanding saves to deny the Daggers and set up a crucial win for Hill’s men.

The boss told the BBC: ‘He’s a match-winner and the match-winners aren’t always the centre forwards.

‘In the Dagenham win it could’ve been the goalkeeper. He made some outstanding saves.

‘He’s a good acquisition for the football club. I think there was one outstanding save – the one where he tipped it over the bar.

‘I think that’s going in the top corner. But that’s what he’s here to do.’

There has been a multitude of rumours surrounding Heaton’s future as he seems destined to leave United in January.

Several clubs are reportedly in the frame for his signature, but the ‘keeper himself stated his desire to resign for QPR before joining Rochdale.
