Queens Park Rangers boss Paul Hart failed to hide his disappointment as the R’s were once again dumped out of the FA Cup – and had his say concerning his critics.

We are now approaching a decade since Rangers last won an FA Cup game, and this evening they were victims of more suspect defending as they caved against Sheffield United.

Hart was scathing of his rearguard, indicating that his side needs to go back to basics on the training ground if they are to move forward.

Speaking to QPR.co.uk after the 3-2 defeat, Hart told of his disappointment.

‘We need to defend better as a team. Some of our defending is woeful,’ he said.

‘We need to get back to basics on the training pitch.

‘We expected a tough game and we got one, but I felt we could cope with them like we have in the last two games, but we were guilty of poor defending.

‘Some of our defending left a lot to be desired.

‘It went from bad to worse at the start of the second half, but we rallied and the players deserve credit for that.’

Rangers rallied from three goals down after goals from Lee Williamson, Jamie Ward and Richard Cresswell gave the Blades a commanding lead.

A penalty from Ákos Buzsáky and a strike from Damion Stewart had sparked hope of a revival only for Antonio German to be thwarted at the death by Mark Bunn.

The supporters once again turned on Hart and the team at times in the second half and the R’s boss was quick to react to this: ‘The reaction of the fans was disappointing, but I understand their feelings.

‘I was disappointed with the players too – I certainly didn’t expect what we got.’

Hart will look to pick his players up for a tough trip to Blackpool on Saturday as Rangers prepare once again to pit their wits against Ian Holloway at Bloomfield Road.
