Paul Hart was pleased with his side’s victory at home to Bristol City, indicating that the building blocks are now in place.

It was a gutsy, determined display from Hart’s Rangers as they saw off Bristol City in rather ugly fashion at Loftus Road – nevertheless it was their first win in seven fixtures.

The R’s took a two-goal lead courtesy of Jay Simpson and Mikele Leigertwood, before Nicky Maynard made matters nervous with a wonder-goal in the second period.

‘I’m delighted with the victory,’ Hart told QPR.co.uk.

‘We knew we needed a win today after going on quite a long run without a victory, and that’s four points from a possible six in my time here, so I’m really pleased.

‘We got what we set out to do – get the victory.

‘I won’t kid anyone, I know we can play better and will play better, but we needed a win and we got it.’

Indeed Hart’s men were heckled throughout the second period for their negative play from a distinct minority of the crowd.

Undeterred they pulled through with a battling performance against a useful outfit in Bristol City, something that the R’s boss attributed to ‘sticking to their guns.’

‘They’re a good team and they played well, but we stuck to our guns and saw them off,’ Hart continued.

‘We felt we should have won last week and although we didn’t play as well as I’d have liked today, we got the win and now we need to go to Ipswich and put on a performance that warrants the win today.

‘It wasn’t pretty, but the desire to get a result was there for everyone to see.’

Rangers now travel to Ipswich Town on Monday where they face Roy Keane’s resurgent Tractor Boys. What was hotly anticipated as Magilton’s return is now just another game as Hart looks to thwart Keane’s men.
