Former QPR manager John Gregory has failed in his bid to become new Leicester boss as they unveiled their new manager today.

Ex-Southampton and Carlisle boss Nigel Pearson is the latest lamb to the slaughter as Milan Mandaric looks to take the Leicester side he relegated, back into the Championship.

This is Mandaric`s sixth appointment in his 16 month tenure as Pearson fended off competition from the aforementioned Gregory as well as MK Dons boss Paul Ince, Blackpool manager Simon Grayson, and ex-Wycombe boss Paul Lambert.

Pearson joins the Fox`s with a wealth of assistant experience, being at Newcastle and West Bromwich Albion as well as a host of others.

His managerial track record does not make for pleasant reading, in the two permanent jobs he has has he has been in charge for a total of 44 games, winning 8, lost 16 and drew 20 times. Those results giving him a win percentage of 19%.

Compare this with the record of John Gregory, taking charge of 438 games, winning 152, losing 169 and drawing 117 matches. Giving him a career win percentage of 35%.

With Gregory overlooked for this latest role despite his depth and range of managerial experience he will have to seek other avenues.

Pearson will succeed former QPR boss Ian Holloway who failed in his attempts to keep the Fox`s in the Championship, with Pearson`s side Southampton staying up at Holloway`s expense.
