Former Queens Park Rangers manager John Gregory has become the manager of Israeli side Ahi Nazareth.

Gregory, who has been out of the game since being sacked by Queens Park Rangers in 2007 takes over the side at the bottom of the ‘Ligat Toto’ – the top flight in Israel.

The deal is worth a reported $5,000 per month and he will be assisted by former Aston Villa and Israel full-back Najwan Garayeb.

Gregory has done media work in the country recently, notably while England were playing in the same group as Israel in the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

He has had a reported interest in the posts at giants Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem in recent times but has taken on the unenviable task of keeping the newly-promoted Ahi Nazareth in the league.

The squad includes former Chesterfield and Notts County forward Tcham N’Toya and former Austria Vienna defender Éric Akoto.
