John Gorman has confirmed that members of Rangers playing and management staff have been sidelined with Swine Flu.

He revealed that not only Radek Cerny and Mikele Leigertwood have suffered with the virus but also defender Peter Ramage at the beginning of the season.

Even physio Paul Hunter was kept away from the side while he recovered from his bout of the illness, but the R’s assistant manager was keen to play down the problems.

He told Sky Sports that while his side has been struck with this illness among others, it’s nothing to get too overly-concerned about.

‘I’m afraid we have had two or three of the boys out with it,’ Gorman admitted.

‘But we have just got on with it and kept them away from the club. (Matthew) Connolly has been out for ages with glandular fever and these sorts of things (happen). We have just accepted that these injuries and these illnesses occur.

‘Mikele Leigertwood, he had it and he has just come back into the squad last week, Peter Ramage, our goalkeeper right at the very beginning of the season, Cerny, he was out with it as well. So the lads have done really well to recover and it’s back to business again.

‘Even our physio had it, it’s one of those things that is going around and you just have to control it, let’s not make a big fuss of it.

‘I think we have handled it well and the lads are back now.’

Matthew Connolly remains sidelined, and the club remains unsure when he can return to training but the likes of Ramage, Cerny and Leigertwood have returned to the line-up unscathed.

Leigertwood was the latest to return to action with the previous duo having their bout at the beginning of the campaign.
