QPR defender Kaspars Gork?s revealed that he is happy with the club`s ambition in the transfer window and is enjoying life in W12.
The Latvian international defender spoke to the Metro indicating that the buck may not stop at the playoffs for the R`s.
He said: ‘The signings have added so much.
‘With three up front we have the perfect players to play that way. Lee’s a great player and I just hope we can avoid injuries now.
‘I think we are concentrating on the play-offs but if it goes really well we’ll see [about automatic promotion].’
Kaspars continued: ‘There’s always pressure at a club whose ambitions are to go up, there’s a fair deal of pressure,
‘That’s normal these days in football but the owners of the club come to see us, to give us their support.’
After joining the R`s in the summer from Championship side Blackpool, Kaspars was finding the going tough as he struggled to make an impact on first team proceedings under Iain Dowie.
Unfortunately for him Rangers had a plethora of cover in the central defensive region, with Fitz Hall and Damion Stewart the first choice and Damien Delaney, Peter Ramage and Matthew Connolly more than able to deputise.
Rumours were linking Gork?s with a move away from W12 as Preston became interested in the Latvian. However injuries enabled the defender to work his way into the line-up and he has not been budged from that position ever since.
Kaspars revealed that he has been happy at QPR all along, despite the deal not going as smoothly as he`d first hoped.
He said: ‘I enjoyed it here at QPR from the very first day,
‘My mind was made up to join the club, although the move did not go as smooth as I’d have hoped.
‘As for promotion, we’re all geared up and as a player you want to play for the ambitious teams. I have ambitions to play in the Premier League and so does this club.’
Kaspars Gork?s has made 20 appearances for the R`s but is yet to bag a goal – something for which he was famed at Blackpool. He has recently established himself as a consistent performer at the heart of the Rangers rearguard.
His partnership with Damion Stewart has emerged as one of the most talented in the Championship with he and the Jamaican shutting out sides on numerous occasions.
