Peterborough United today announced their new boss as Jim Gannon – he faces his first test against QPR this weekend.

The former Stockport County and Motherwell manager will take charge of his first Championship game this Saturday as his new club Peterborough United host Mick Harford’s QPR.

Both sides are hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons of late with chairman Darragh MacAnthony releasing a stunning tirade of statements on the club’s official site, before sacking recently hired mananger Mark Cooper.

That doesn’t bother the new boss who now has his sights firmly set on Saturday and Rangers. He told theposh.com: ‘The main objective is to get three points on Saturday against Queens Park Rangers. The Championship is a tough league to pick up a string of victories, but we want to play better football and hopefully the results will follow and let’s see where it takes us.’

Rangers have already sold over 1500 tickets for the game as they seek to bounce back from successive Championship defeats.
