DANNY Gabbidon claims he did not enjoy his brief stint at Loftus Road as he finally pens a deal in the Championship.

Gabbidon was signed by Crystal Palace yesterday following his realese several months ago by Queens Park Rangers.

The defender was introduced to the club in an era of austerity under Flavio Briatore – penning a short-term deal on a free transfer.

Shortly into the season, Gabbidon picked up an injury putting him out for a month, and he struggled to get back into contention under both Neil Warnock and Mark Hughes.

Despite that he made 19 appearances for the R’s with only four games ending in victory. One of which he notched his only goal, an FA Cup replay against Milton Keynes Dons.

He told the Crystal Palace official website however that he had been overlooked and didn’t enjoy his spell in the top flight:

‘My season with QPR was a crazy year.

‘A lot of stuff went on and I didn’t really enjoy my time there to be honest.

‘I’m happy to get a club now as I’ve gone through the summer and waited for things to happen.

‘I want to try and enjoy my football again and just go out there and play and not worry about anything else.’

Gabbidon now dips down into the Championship with the Eagles where he will link up with former QPR defender Peter Ramage.
